The Anglo Saxon People

Introduction
Welcome, firstly it should be pointed out that the term 'Anglo-Saxon' is generally used to describe those of English' descent. It refers to the Germanic tribes that arrived in Britain around the beginning of the fifth century. The two main tribes were the Saxons & the Angles, hence 'Anglo-Saxon', although interestingly enough another Germanic tribe called the Jutes already had settlements in southern England at this time. These tribes went on to form one of the most influential people the world has known, they arrived at the shores of Britain & transformed the land into a nation (England). Hopefully those of you who trace your ancestry to these people will feel pride in your roots, it is a shame that their history is largely ignored by schools.
